Sharon Dahlgren
President
Sharon joined the board in 2020 and is thrilled to be able to give back to the community in this capacity. She is a retired Health and Fitness teacher.
Born and raised in the area, Sharon is a graduate of Waverly High School and Dakota State University. She began her teaching and coaching career in Armour and Mitchell before coming back home to the Watertown area. She finished up her teaching career spending 20 years in the Watertown School District. Sharon was instrumental in adopting a Health Education Class at the senior high level. This is the class that The Beacon Center Outreach program was able to come in to and educate our young adults about healthy relationships, domestic/dating violence, and how to help themselves or another person if they are in this type of situation.
Sharon was named the South Dakota High School Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 2017. Sharon has also remained active in education as she served as a State Mentor for new teachers. She enjoys using her talent as a substitute teacher for NTHS (Northeast Technical High School). Sharon is also the president of the Northeast South Dakota Chapter of DKG (Delta Kappa Gamma) and a member of the Watertown Area Retired School Personnel. Sharon enjoys swimming, biking, and baking. Sharon and her husband Doug, have a blended family of 2 daughters and 3 sons and 10 grandchildren.
